SHORT VERSION: The book looks amazing!

LONG VERSION: Press proofs came in, and the above video takes you through all the different parts of the book production! It's pretty neat to see, if you've never seen all the parts that go into a book.

ET, VOILÀ! HERE ARE THE COSPLAYS!

THANK YOU! (…AND WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!)
over 5 years ago – Thu, Sep 27, 2018 at 11:53:16 PM

WE DID IT!

We did it: The new DRIVE hardcover is coming into the world! And before I say anything else, I want to say THANK YOU. Thank you for your support, your willingness to help spread the word, your awesome Lego builds, and your cosplay (which I still have to share with you!).

I’d also like to thank you for the emotional support you’ve lent me here, on the Drive Patreon, in e-mails, and in countless comic-cons over the years. For a cartoonist like me, who works in a quiet little studio, it means the WORLD to have such kindness directed my way.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT:

  • The book (and all the book extras!) are all done, and ready to go!
  •  I’ll be doing one last proofreading pass before sending the files off to the printer.
  • I’ll also be coordinating with the third-party vendors who’ll be making our Challenge Coin, our pins, and our propaganda prints. I expect no problems, there.
  • For hardcover backers: Most of the Sheldon eBooks are prepped and ready to go! But others — like my 25-year old *college* comics collection! — need to be digitized and turned into an eBook. So I’m going to wait until *ALL* the eBooks are prepped before sending download links out to hardcover backers.
  • The physical books should arrive at our fulfillment center in Jan 2019. At that point, I’ll begin contacting everyone for their preferred mailing address. You’ll be hearing from me via “Backerkit” for that address request.
  • Speaking of which: A great many of you requested the ability to add a Challenge Coin or an extra this or that on your pledge reward. So! For the first time ever, I’m using BackerKit to allow for that. When I request your mailing address via BackerKit, you’ll have an opportunity to “add on” items before we ship out to you.
  • PLEASE CONFIRM YOUR KICKSTARTER ACCOUNT HAS YOUR CORRECT EMAIL. There are always 30-40 people who have a typo in their e-mail, and then I can never get a hold of them. I want you to get your book! :)
  • If there are any questions or problems that come up at any point, drop me a direct e-mail at [email protected].

IMPORTANT FINAL NOTE:

Whenever we cross paths in person — at a comic-con or a book signing or life in general — make sure you mention you were a Kickstarter backer. I really want to thank you in person, and I want to give you a special sketch to say thank you for the support. So make sure you mention you were a backer!

Thank you all!
Dave
